ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County students in need will start off the school year right, after three local nonprofits received 1,000 donated backpacks to be given to students from Union Bank early this month.

According to a news release, the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim-Cypress, Boys & Girls Club of Huntington Valley and Orange County Children's Therapeutic Art Center received 1,000 backpacks loaded with essential back-to-school items like notebooks, folders, rulers, pencils and more.

The nonprofit recipients are all long-time Union Bank Foundation grantees, according to the release. The backpacks, which were assembled by Union Bank employees, will be given to children from low-income families in surrounding Orange County communities.

According to the Union Bank Foundation, the foundation has donated close to $150,000 to the three nonprofits for their efforts in providing academic support, mentorship, arts programming and more to Orange County youth.
