January

Winter Fest OC

Enjoy the magic of winter at Winter Fest OC with Santa, snow, carnival games, delicious food, and more. Stroll through holiday lights, build a snowman in the snow play area, and enjoy a snow tubing slide. There’s a tree lighting ceremony every night at 5:30 with fresh falling snow and a parade, with fireworks to light up the sky. Kids will delight in the magic that Winter Fest offers and the whole family will feel the spirit of the season as they wander through the winter wonderland. Winter Fest offers complimentary admission with a valid ID on select days for First Responders, Nurses, Active Duty Military & Veterans, and Teachers.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year and the year of the Rabbit at this annual Tet Festival. The Tet Festival is the celebration of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, the most important holiday in Vietnamese culture. According to the Festival page, “Tết celebrates the arrival of a new spring where families reunite, enjoy each other’s company, forget about the troubles of the previous year and look forward to a better upcoming year.” The Tet Festival includes a Vietnamese Culture Village with exhibits, galleries, performers, vendors, and replicas of traditional Vietnamese villages. There are also several contests to enter, including the Pho eating contest, balut eating contest, children’s pageant, dance contests and more.

Anatolia Food Festival

What better way to savor your Sunday than to enjoy a day of food and fun exploring Turkish and Mediterranean culinary cuisines. In addition to sampling new flavors, carnival games will be available for kids to play. This free event is open to the public and donations are requested for food and games.

Black History Parade & Cultural Faire
West Center Street Promenade, Anaheim CA

The Black History Parade & Cultural Faire is held every year on the first Saturday in February to kick off Black History Month. The annual event is organized by the Orange County Heritage Council and was founded by Helen Shipp. The parade features “noted community members and elected officials, community groups, school and church units, singing and dancing units, city service vehicles, and community members who have participated in the history of Orange County and surrounding areas.” The parade is followed by the cultural faire which includes educational and informational booths and activities, vendor and business booths, youth village and activities, health information and screenings, entertainment, and food.

Laguna Beach Music Festival

The Laguna Beach Music Festival is a multi-day event that celebrates classical and contemporary music. The event includes concerts, community outreach and educational programs, and special events. Guests will enjoy meet-the-artist events, salons, rehearsals, discussions, and during festival week, local schoolchildren will enjoy live music in school. Festival events include the Festival Prelude at the Laguna Art Museum and the Music Meets Dance Opening Night Event.

Bloody Valentine Marketplace

Irvine Park Railroad Anniversary Celebration

The Irvine Park Railroad is celebrating 27 years in business and will be hosting a weekend of fun with $2 tickets for train rides – the original price for a train ride when they opened in 1996. There are many other events during the anniversary celebration including panning for gold, carnival games, moon bounce, hay rides and face painting. Activities are one to two tickets per person and cost $2 per ticket. Free activities include live entertainment, raffle, and picture stands. Popcorn, cotton candy, and ice cream can be purchased for $2 each. Additional food and drinks are available for purchase at the train depot snack bar.

Kinderkarneval

The Festival of Whales is a popular annual event that celebrates the return of the Gray Whales that migrate off our Coast. The two day celebration will feature multiple events and activities for the whole family including whale watching excursions, sand sculpture competitions, paddle board clinics, water play, art lessons, car shows, educational lectures, live music, great food, kids fishing clinics, and The Festival of Whales parade to kick the whole thing off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Swallows Day Parade & Mercado Street Faire

The Swallows Day Parade and Mercado Street Faire are the culminating events for the three month long festival celebrating the return of the Swallows to San Juan Capistrano from their winter home in Argentina. The parade is one of the largest non-motorized parades in America. The celebration dates back to the 1930s. The Swallows Day Parade is part of the Festival de los Golondrinas. The Festival includes multiple events such as the Taste of San Juan, Kids Pet Parade, Hoos’ Gow Day, and more. The Mercado Street Faire offers delicious food, fun for the whole family, a kids play zone, shopping, and entertainment.

OC Wine & Spirit Fest

The annual Orange County Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in Huntington Beach Central Park near the bandstand located behind the Central Library. The Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates Japanese and Japanese American Culture in Southern California. The 3-day event is free and open to the public and includes a variety of family-friendly activities. There will be over 20 performers and musical groups, more than 50 vendors, a Sakura Night Market on Friday and Saturday, contests and dancing, arts and crafts, exhibits, games, and so much more. The Cherry Blossom Festival, now in its sixth year, was started by a Girl Scout who wanted to showcase Japanese Culture in Huntington Beach.

Hanamatsuri Festival

Hanamatsuri (Flower Festival) celebrates the birth of Siddhārtha Gautama, who became Śākyamuni, the historical Buddha. The Annual Southern California Spring Garden Show at South Coast Plaza is a four-day garden event that features 50 unique plant and garden vendors. The Village Green at Euclid and Lampson

The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival is the biggest community event of the year. Now in its 62nd year, the annual event held every Memorial Day weekend draws thousands of visitors to enjoy the festival in downtown Garden Grove. The event includes rides and attractions, a parade, contests, celebrities, food, vendors, performances, and much more. Admission is free, but tickets or wristbands are required for rides. Don’t miss the highlight of Opening Ceremonies, the world’s largest strawberry shortcake.

Pageant of the Masters

The Pageant of the Masters is a Laguna Beach tradition that began in 1932. Every year, the community comes together to put on a 90-minute theatrical performance, bringing a selected classic or contemporary artwork to life on stage with live actors, recreated artwork as the set, and musical accompaniment by a full orchestra. A narrator tells the story of the famous work of art, taking audience members through a theatrical experience unlike any other. Guests are allowed to bring their own food and drinks, and guests over 21 may bring their own alcohol. There are also two on-site restaurants to purchase food and drinks at the event. Attendees to the Pageant of the Masters may also enjoy the Festival of Arts event.

Ohana Festival

Ohana Fest features a diverse lineup of musicians and performers, artists, surfers, ocean conservationists and more. The festival was founded by Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of the band Pearl Jam, and the name “Ohana” is a Hawaiian word meaning “family,” and the festival is known for its relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

More than 150 doctors, healthcare professionals, and community members join together to provide free health screenings and services for family members of all ages. Free services include dental extractions and fillings, vision services, consultations with specialists, flu shots, hearing tests, physicals, EKGs, chiropractic care, acupuncture, bone density assessment, testing for diabetes, cholesterol, and hemoglobin, mammograms, and pap smears.

The Pacific Airshow

The Pacific Airshow is coming to Huntington Beach once again. All weekend long, viewers will enjoy flyovers and performances from a variety of planes including The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, T-33 “Ace Maker”, the FedEx 757, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – The Red Arrows, Mike Wiskus Lucas Oil Aerobatics, and Lyon’s Air Museum C-47 Dakota “Willa Jean”, and many more. In addition to air displays, the beach and pier will feature festival activities and vendors. The main seating area for the air show that requires tickets will be on the south side of the pier. Parking for the event is in the Huntington City and State Beach lots, or farther down at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Street parking may be found in the nearby communities. Beach parking fills up early.

Afterburner Music Festival

Afterburner takes place after the Pacific Airshow and is an action-packed live music festival with music from classic rock & roll, to country mixed with a little bit of hip-hop and R&B. In between acts expect to see night-time aerial performances with jetpacks, biplanes and high-performance jets.

OC Moon Festival

The Cypress Community Festival is a celebration that originated when Cypress was a community with more cows than people, and the town was called Dairy City. and is followed by a day packed full of events including a car show, chili and salsa cook off, vendor and information booths, a business expo, arts and crafts activities, live entertainment, games and rides, public safety island with booths and demonstrations from local police and firefighters, softball games, and more. Headliners for 2022 are No Duh on Friday night, and TUPUA and Knyght Ryder on Saturday.

The Annual Elvis festival is back at Garden Grove, and this year’s celebration is a extra special. This year they will be celebrating the Platinum Anniversary! The Elvis Festival Ambassador for the 21st year will be Kirk Wall of Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies. Audience members will be treated to bluegrass versions of the the eternally loved Elvis Presley. That’s only the beginning of the performances and it doesn’t stop there. Food trucks will be the event, showcasing all of their Elvis themed menu items, along with many restaurants and businesses on Main Street.
