OCC to Host Children’s Book Festival on Sunday

Orange Coast College will be hosting the annual Orange County Children’s Book Festival on Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Planetarium with free parking and admission. 

The festival has been going on since 2004, and hosts 7,000 families each year. Entertainment, storytelling, illustration and inspiration, animals and nature, S.T.E.A.M. Ahead, and world stories and adventure will each have their own separate stages. Multiple authors and illustrators offering autographs, as well as booksellers and literacy-related exhibitors will also be present. For anyone who gets hungry, there will be food trucks. 

Notable speakers will include Justin Baldoni, Kheris Rogers, Paul Frank, April Lavalle, Alex Boniello, Morgan Cable, Cédric H. David, and Elio Morillo.

The Planetarium will include its own exhibits as well, such as the Foucault Pendulum, Space Rocks! Meteorites exhibits, NOAA Science on a Sphere, NASA “Eyes On” interactives, and Science on a Sphere Explorer. 

Information on the second annual S.T.E.A.M. Race to Space Reading Challenge, starting Oct. 14 to Nov. 4 will be available to those who are interested.
